The first step is to make sure your printer is fully unpacked and prepared before installing any software. Start by unpacking and removing all protective packaging from the HP printer. If you are unsure that you have removed all packaging you can consult the manual. This will detail where extra protective material has been added.
When the printer is completely unpacked, you can plug in the power cord and connect the printer with the USB-b cable or the network cable, if necessary. If you have a WiFi printer and wish to connect wirelessly, it is not necessary to connect the network cable. Next, fill the paper tray with paper and insert your ink cartridges securely in your HP printer. Once you’ve turned on your HP printer, you will be prompted to select a language. Choose your desired language on the printer screen. Then let the printer go through the startup sequence, which includes printing the alignment page (if applicable).
Remove your ink cartridges from their packaging and check which colour you are going to install. Open the door on your printer that holds the ink cartridges, making sure to use the lever and not force it open. It is important to ensure that the correct colour ink cartridge is inserted into the correct slot. Once you are sure, you can remove the protective strip from the ink cartridges that prevents the ink from leaking into the package and insert the colours into the slots. Finally, close the door, ensuring it is secure and does not open during printing.

Many HP printers can be set up to print wirelessly from your computer, laptop or smartphone device. To do this, click on the symbol for WiFi on your printer screen. Then go to 'Settings' and choose the 'Wireless Setup Wizard' and enter your WiFi password. Connecting to Wi-Fi will take about a minute, then you’re all set.
To print from your mobile phone, simply download the HP Smart App, which you can download from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. Now connect your printer to your phone via WiFi. In addition to downloading the app, your device only needs to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. The app ensures that your HP printer is found by your device so that you can also send print jobs from these devices.
