Additional information about Canon 069 and 069H toners

The 123ink own-brand toners for the Canon 069 series use recycled original Canon chips. The toners from this series are completely new except for the chip. Because the chip has been used before, you may see the following messages on your printer or computer. You can ignore the messages, but you can also hide them. Below we explain how you can do that.

Message: "Cartridge end of life reached’’

After installing the own-brand toner, the Message "End of life cartridge" is shown on the printer display. This message is caused by the recycled original Canon chip on the toner. The chip has been used before; the rest of the toner is new. You can ignore the message. All you have to do is click OK.

The printer indicates that the toner is empty

Because the recycled Canon chip has been used before, the actual content of this toner is not measured. The printer may indicate immediately after insertion that the toner is (almost) empty. This is of course not correct; the toner is still completely full at that moment. You can ignore the empty message and start or continue printing. If the toner is (almost) empty, you will notice this automatically in the print quality. Is the quality decreasing and/or is a colour missing from your page? Then print a test page to check the status. The toner is probably (almost) empty.

The printer displays that the toner is empty

Because the recycled Canon chip has been used before, the actual content of this toner is not measured. The printer may display that the toner is almost empty immediately after insertion. This is not correct; the toner is still completely full. You can ignore the empty message and start or continue printing. If the toner is almost empty, you will notice this automatically in the print quality. Is the quality decreasing and/or is a colour missing from your page? Then print a test page to check the status.

What is the function of the chip?

The chip is used for colour recognition. The printer checks whether a black toner is actually placed in the place for the black toner. A different colour toner is not accepted in that place, because that would not produce good print results.

The printer may display a Canon 069H toner as Canon 069

The recycled Canon chips on our own-brand toners come from both Canon 069H and Canon 069 toners. With original Canon toners there is a difference in content and capacity between these types, with the 123ink own-brand there is not. Both toner types from the 123ink own-brand have the same content and printing capacity and fit in the same printer types. Hence, the message appears.
