How erasers work

Pencil graphite does not stain paper – it simply sits on top of it. Erasers are made of soft, sticky material, such as rubber, vinyl, or plastic. When you rub an eraser over the graphite, the material grips the loose particles and lifts them away, leaving the paper clean.

Types of erasers
